Reese Barrett
Graduate Student | School of Oceanography
I'm a PhD student studying chemical oceanography and the marine carbon cycle with Dr. Brendan Carter (NOAA PMEL/UW CICOES). I care deeply about addressing the climate crisis rapidly and from a lens of climate justice. Currently, I am studying marine carbon dioxide removal and ocean alkalinity enhancement. I'm especially interested in developing observing/modeling systems for monitoring, recording, and verification of these technologies to ensure that they are implemented with accountability and equity.
I am a member of the PCC Graduate Student Steering Committee (P-GraSC) and work with the Outreach subcommittee to facilitate climate change-related events in the community. Through PCC, I am also pursuing the Graduate Certificate in Climate Science (GCeCS).
