Graduate Student | School of Environmental and Forest Sciences

My name is Hema and I am a fifth year PhD Candidate in the Center for International Trade in Forest Products (CINTRAFOR) at the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences. My research focuses on timber species identification using satellite remote sensing and machine learning to improve the timber traceability and implement timber legality. I first got involved with PCC organizing the Graduate Climate Conference (GCC) in 2022. Further, I am volunteering for one of the ACORN projects. PCC's efforts to educate and engage the community on climate change problems and solutions impressed me to join the PGraSC in 2023. Currently, I'm serving in the university engagement team of PGraSC.
