Our research group is focused on understanding how the structure of biological communities—including both biodiversity and ecological network structure—affects stability and ecological functioning. Much of our work examines the effects of anthropogenic environmental change, including climate change, on biological communities. We primarily, but not exclusively, use plant-pollinator interactions as a model system for investigating these questions. Our work uses a variety of approaches including manipulative and comparative field studies; mathematical and computational modeling; laboratory behavioral experiments; and various genetic approaches.
